In partnership with State Representative Bob Morgan, Go Green Highland Park, and Go Green Deerfield, we invite you to join us for a morning of volunteerism as our community comes together to clean up the beach and forest preserve at Fort Sheridan. Children welcome with adults. All participants must register here.

Highland Park! Let’s all work together to keep used sports items out of the landfill, and avoid wasting money on new “stuff”.

The SportSwap is a fun (and therapeutic) project that supports sustainability. It’s simple:

  • Gather up your gently used equipment in your garage, car/van, bedroom, or wherever.
  • Drop it off at one of our convenient sites between Aug. 17-26 (option to drop and go or exchange items for a voucher to use at the sale).
  • Come shop for new-to-you items at great prices. No donation necessary to shop, cash only, no credit cards accepted.

We formed a partnership with North Shore Plant Club – and for every plant purchased, they donate 5% to us, at no extra cost to you!
If you are considering adding some flowers, trees, bushes and or mulch, to your garden, please do so using our fundraising link with North Shore Plant Club and help us realize our 2026 fundraising goals!
The Plant Club is great because it offers hundreds of plants direct from the nursery, in the quantities you want, for easy pickup or delivery.

Climate Coach Program

Residents are taking advantage of the knowledge of fellow Highland Parkers. One resident who talked with a Climate Coach about installing solar panels and establishing a native garden said, “It’s a great program and I hope people will use it.”

  • ·Create a pollinator-friendly zone in your yard?

Our Climate Coaches are here to help you get started!

Sign up to talk with a Highland Park Climate Coach! Climate coaches are neighbors who have implemented a variety of different solutions to make their homes more efficient and climate friendly. Sessions can take place via a phone call or in-person and take around 30 minutes. Coaches are volunteers and are not affiliated with any vendors or contractors they recommend. 

Example topics include: electrifying your home, planting native gardens, installing solar energy or heat pumps, purchasing an electric vehicle, insulating drafty homes and more.

It’s almost here! This Saturday is the 4th annual Highland Park Native Garden Tour, organized by Habitat Highland Park and Go Green HP. Before you register below, here’s another teaser of Jessica’s amazing native habitat. Jessica’s garden reflects a range of growing conditions, from shade-loving woodland plants on the north side of the house to sun-loving natives in the sandy southern exposure. Front-yard flowers support pollinators, while rain gardens in the back absorb stormwater and create wildlife habitat. Despite the challenges of a changing climate, Jessica has been continually impressed by the resilience of native plants and views gardening as an ongoing partnership with the land. Linda gradually incorporated native plants into her landscape after seeing how well they performed and the unique character they added.
