Curt's Cafe is working towards less waste and more reusables!

Curt’s Cafe does a lot of great work on behalf of underserved youth and they offer great food too!  Now they are directing new efforts towards a sustainable operation.  No plastic disposable  water bottles at Curt’s.  Drink your water in a glass that is set up next to a large glass water dispenser.  Curt’s will be purchasing only compostable take out containers, and in the Cafe uses small metal containers for condiments instead of throwaway plastic ones.

Let’s show another business that we support their important efforts.

Love That Spice Owner Marlena Jayatilake

Take note, Marlena from Love that Spice has decided that disposable plastic water bottles have no place in her shop filled with healthy teas and spices.  She is about health and is no longer selling plastic bottled water or using plastic straws.  Let her know you are pleased about this decision.  She’s doing her part.

TAC Director James Lynch

The Art Center of Highland Park Goes Greener! James Lynch has eliminated disposable plastic water bottles from Art Center events. They are also substituting bamboo utensils and plates for plastic or paper when disposable is still necessary. This is the way to being a leader in sustainability and set the standard for other public “ways of doing business.” Thank you, James!

Eco-Takeout Challenge

Take less when you takeout. When ordering food for carryout, ask your favorite restaurants to include utensils, napkins and condiments UPON REQUEST ONLY. If they use compostable or recyclable packaging be sure to thank them and let them know it matters to you. Download our Eco-takeout guide and restaurant letter to help your favorite eatery save green while going green. Know a place already doing it? Tell us who’s doing takeout right and we’ll highlight them here.  Read about Bluegrass Restaurant here.
