“Neonicotinoids: What Gardeners Need to Know” – July 1 – 7-8pm CT

Wild Ones Lake-to-Prairie chapter presents “Neonicotinoids: What Gardeners Need to Know”
Tuesday – July 1, 2025
– 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm CT
IN-PERSON EVENT
Residential areas provide important food and shelter for many of our threatened and endangered pollinators. By establishing pollinator habitat in your home landscape using native plants, you become an active part of helping to protect and restore these at-risk species. Unfortunately, many plants (even some native plants) that are labeled as pollinator friendly can be treated with pesticides or grown using neonicotinoids, that can be toxic to bees and other beneficial insects.
Corrine Daniels, owner of Bombus LLC, a wholesale native plant nursery, will share her industry insider knowledge of pesticide use, impacts, and why some growers find it so hard to walk away from them. She will describe the practices that allow her nursery to avoid the use of pesticides, including harmful neonicotinoids. She will also discuss how to select native plant species to support and improve native pollinator health and diversity, including bumblebee immune system boosters.
The public is invited to the monthly meetings of the Lake-to-Prairie chapter of the Wild Ones, a national not-for-profit organization that promotes the use of native plants in landscapes through education, advocacy and collaborative action. Beginning in June, all meetings will be in-person only through the rest of the year.
You may attend this free program in person at the Fremont Public Library, but registration is required. Presented in partnership with Fremont Public Library.
